I was a little worried that the recoil in the 5.5 lb Ruger would be too much for her. She shot six rounds and said she was done. But she did not flinch once. I shot three rounds without hearing protection to see if the muzzle brake was going to be obnoxious. It wasn't bad. I have shot a few guns with brakes that hurt so bad it would bring tears to your eyes. Going to load up some Barnes 200 TSX for her. I think she will do just fine.

A friend of mine has taken several moose with his 450 Bushmaster AR. He has nothing but good things to say about it.

Which rifle did you buy it in?
I have one of the M77 Scouts in 450 but haven't had a chance to shoot it. I have it set up to run the suppressor on it for some 1000 fps loads just for fun eventually.

It is the Ruger American Ranch. It has the 16 inch barrel. I may have to try some heavies in it just for grins. The magazine has more than .5 inches of unused space with the Hornady 250 grain ammo. I pointed out the extra space to my wife and she immediately replied with NO. Apparently she new what I was getting at. She said it kicks enough as it is. She may use it for deer or elk. If she does any huntin' this year.

Some 400 to 500 gr bullets are just what [you] need. Give yourself plenty of eye room from the scope though. Let your wife watch so she can get her giggle for the day.
