Buddy sent me a link to starline 500 special brass.
Makes me wonder who is going to move on a gun for this........

I saw that and might pick some up for my JRH, keep the mild loads segregated from the others by length.

Any risk of that supposed ring-o-lead forming at the front of the chamber when using this ammo in a JRH and then putting full size, full power JRH ammo in the gun?

I would not hesitate to use the shorter case, you would have to shoot an awful lot without cleaning to ever present a problem. I shoot heavy loaded 45 colts in my 454 for years and never a single problem.

depends how tight your chambers are. Looser the chambers, the more forgiving it will be to chamber the longer brass.

Hello
I have been thinking about buying some of this brass for my 500JRH. It would allow me to use bullets with the longer nose and seat them utilizing the intended crimp groove. A lot of the bullets designed for the 500S&W nose is to long for the 500JRH. I would probably have to turn the rim however.

I haven't had issues with 357 or 44 sub calibers thus far at similar pressure, though I do clean the chambers with a copper wrapped brush between different cartridge lengths. Honestly, unless I'm loading to max the Special length will do anything I want in a .50 cal.

I have a sample pack of these on the way. I had them throw it into another order of 45 colt I needed. Wondering how well my crimp die is going to work with these shortys .
