I guess this is a whole lot dumber than a S&W 929 or 986 then?

Not appearing to be their best idea... as a 10 Mag shooter, with a couple custom guns in that caliber I'd have to rechamber it, if one found it's way to my house... might be more interesting if it was a 7 or 8 shot gun... but not much interest in something that big, with a 6 shot cylinder in a mid sized auto cartridge

Also, if one tries to maximize performance with heavier bullets and higher pressures would you run into the bullet pull problem associated with the 50 AE? I just don't get it. The GP100 is the perfect candidate for a 40 S&W/10mm gun with moon clips... but a 54 ounce behemoth and a 7-1/2" barrel? Hamilton Bowen's GP44 is the goal here... but golly gee goodness sakes alive, can we at least see a powerful cartridge matched to the size and strength of the revolver, AND a 4" - 5" barrel... PLEASE? In 480 Ruger or a new 5-shot in a new cartridge like 50 Ruger, or 500 Special or 500 Linebaugh or.......

I'm another who would buy a GP100 in 10mm but not a long barreled SRH..if anything they should have made it with a 5.5" barrel like the Toklat. But if one is a 10mm fan and wants to hunt with a revolver in your favorite round...here it is.

I'm so excited, I could just go back to sleep. I note, though, that the spec sheet claims a 6.5" barrel, a first in the SRH. Yawn.

I'm all for new stuff but it definitely seems like a disjointed decision. I know there are a lot of 10mm fans out there and it's a great cartridge but I can't believe the sales wouldn't be much higher on a .357 Mag chambering.

The cylinder is long enough for 300gr bullets crimped in the lower grease groove.....or something.

I think the standard Redhawk would've been better, but in the GP100, it probably would be a 5-shot. If Memory serves, Gary Reeder does a GP-100 10mm and it's a 5-shot

I guess this is a whole lot dumber than a S&W 929 or 986 then? 929 is a game gun and sells nicely. 986.... dunno who wants that. This Ruger will be the perfect gun for someone who REALLY wants a 10mm, but doesn't like recoil at all.
