I remember reading Bowen stopped when the guy he used died. I thought someone kept the rebore business going but there was a huge backlog and they finally shut down? My rememberer might be broken on that point though. Just daydreaming and letting my mind run with the idea of turning a 4" 28/29/57 into a .45 Colt/ACP for less than ponying up for a 4" 25 and having it cut for moon clips. I have a strong feeling that won't be the case and I should go ahead and start rolling pennies for a 25 but it's a fun diversion...

Check with Jack Huntington. www.jrhadvancedgunsmithing.com/Earlier this year I sent him a S&W Model 53 .22 Jet with an extra burned out barrel and .22 Long Rifle cylinder. He did a beautiful job turning it into a .327 Federal using the burned out barrel and .22 cylinder. The gun can be put back to .22 Jet using the original cylinder and barrel that was on the gun... Not sure who he is using to do his reboring. Bob

Jack has his own machine....
I thought the question was, who will rebore barrels?
I don't think Jack will do the rebores unless he's building you a gun.
I could be wrong though....

Thanks! I wonder if a rebore/rechamber, trigger work and new stocks would be enough to entice JRH?

Jack said it was the easiest job for a caliber change he ever did. He did however end up having to face off the barrel shoulder to get a little more depth because the forcing cone area of the barrel had been so over heated by the .22 Jet ammo it had to be cut back and a new forcing cone cut...

I have had one S&W and one Ruger rebored by Al Siegrist and he did an excellent job as is expected given his 40+ years doing it.
