The M -57 and the 41 mag is a perfect match in my humble opinion. You have an excellent revolver chambered in an excellent cartridge. Great acquisition!

I just traded for one of these 6” 57’s and it’s sitting at my FFL in Oklahoma waiting on me. I’m anxious to pick it up. It will be my first double action.

Stunning gun in my favorite chambering. Like the OP, I didn't start reloading till I bought my first .41. I like 215gr LSWCs at ~1000fps for plinking & 1300+ for hunting deer. Also been experimenting with 240gr LSWC that both my Ruger single actions love.

Congratulations, and great that it stayed in CA, and will be used. Early Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I did pick it up a couple of days ago. It is a very nice gun. It has a target trigger and target hammer along with the red ramp and white outline sights typical of many of these guns. The action is smooth and the trigger breaks clean. It is wearing what appears to be non checkered coke bottle rosewood grips. I traded into it to get another rifle out of my safe and I’m not sure it is my cup of tea. One double action in a safe full of single actions...

...well you picked the right one to get if you are just going to have "one" of those new fangled double action revolvers...
Do the grips have S&W medallions in them?
For 99% of my shooting with S&W revolvers, I've settled on a 210-220 grain cast bullet with 8.0 grains of Unique. It runs 950+- fps from a 4" and is very pleasant to shoot. If I plan on hunting I use a cast HP or PentaPoint with 9.0 for 1100 or 10.0 for 1180 fps...

No medallion in the grip.
