I own a fair number of S&W older revolvers like that. EXCEPT a good example of a Model 57. NICE ONE there!!!!!!!!!!!! I've said that if I can find a nice M-57,,, I'll be about filled out on S&W,,, but who knows?

The most accurate centerfire revolver I've ever owned was a four inch 57. It is one of the ones I regret selling the most. Congratulations on a great find. That's a beauty.

My very first big bore S&W was a lightly used 4" model 57 41 magnum work of art. I paid $100 for it when new one's were bringing $165 new in the presentation box. This was in 1967 in Sherman, Texas in my military days. As Bob mentioned 8 grs of Unique is a great load with good cast bullets & I put thousands of rounds down the barrel, many were at raccoons, possums, snapping turtles, bull frogs, armadillos, rabbits, alligator gar, white tail deer, skunks, snakes, tin cans, rocks, dirt clods, etc. I would spend hours up in the top of Dub Carney's barn in Sadler, Texas shooting out into the field at long range. Many, many rounds of 17 grs of 2400 also went down that tube & accuracy was as good as any jacketed bullet I could buy off the shelf at the Gibson's Discount Center where I worked part time. To me you have the "Holy Grail" of N frame S&W's in that model 57, cherish it, shoot it & if you catch a cold & need some cash, send it to Idaho!!! I sold mine to help my parents buy my brother a gift when he graduated from the university of Idaho.

I've run out of superlatives to describe that gun.......
Maybe I'll just say "PERFECT".

Now WHERE did you come across a set of Keith Brown Ropers? I waited months for the set I ordered from him.

I sent in an order sheet to Keith Brown over 3 years ago and have yet to see a set of grips. I had no idea his wait list was so long! Makes me feel a bit better in the price I paid for them now. Not sure I could hang on that long and would probably position myself to get two once he called your name, and then work backwards finding a gun for the other set. I am on Culina's list and am planning on doing just that!
