I've wanted a custom revolver from Bowen for longer than I can remember. So I have a blued Bisley in 44mag that I am going to send to him on Tuesday. It's going to be his Long Hunter conversion with the Ovate barrel. It will stay a 44mag, but with a 5 shot cylinder. Just gonna sit back and wait for it to be completed. Probably a year or 2. I'll find something to keep me occupied.

When you are holding the beautiful example of the Makers Art, feeling the gun rise in recoil as it sends the first round down range at some distant target, you will have forgotten all about the wait!
Look forward to seeing it!

Well you certainly haven't chosen wrong! It will be well worth the wait and I am anxious to see the end result ! Sounds like a great build!

I like the caliber choice too. I've got nothing larger than a 45 Colt myself (and probably won't go larger) and am finding the 44 Magnum my Goldilocks.

I have been drooling over Hamilton's work for so long... since about 1980-something. Good for you!

The Long Hunter with the ovate rib is one of the classiest configurations and unfortunately one I do not have. Doug, get off the fence and send something in. I was visiting with Hamilton last week and he mentioned that he will stay in the shop as long has he has cartilage in his shoulders and elbows but writing is getting more and more appealing to him. You know a project like that will take a year or more so send it in and start saving.

His lightweight Colt is a masterpiece IMO. It was love at first sight. Of course, I'd need a Colt or a USFA clone, too....

Wow, I guess I didn't know all the intricacies of having Bowen build me up a gun. He has put it in rotation to be built. Most questions pertain to desired bullet weight and velocity. I guess that barrels need to be "clocked" differently based on weight. I am well aware of the different needs for sights based on what I am shooting, but not barrel clocking. Anyway, I want to be able to shoot 240-250 grain bullets to high velocity and also 300-310 grain bullets if the need arises. He is going to supply 2 rear sight blades, one at .385" and the other at .270". He said the gun should be ready in a couple weeks. I was expecting a longer wait, but what the heck. I guess I was lucky as everything was available in the shop.
