Beautiful gun! What kind of wood are those grips, and what in your opinion will be the perfect packing load for the gun?

I believe it is Turkish walnut, but Rob can correct me if I am wrong. I haven't worked up the perfect load for it yet, but it will probably be a 400 + grain hardcast bullet at 1,100 fps or so (I am guessing/projecting).

Funny, before clicking open the thread, thought , call Lipseys and order a 4 5/8" 480 BSBH ! I went over mine and took down the sharper of the edges while watching TV last night. Am awaiting a Sixshot front sight.

How does the shorty 480 compare in weight to the shorty BFR 44mag ?

Been in the basement off/on last couple of days. Too nice out to stay at it. But have moved a 100 480 cases a few steps thru to play loads, yet enough for deer. Am using MBC's PC'd 340gr bullet on 7.3grs of TB and CCI350 primers. No chrono here, guessing under 1000fps. A nice Boooom ! Holes in whatever I point it at. Wish that bullet had a bit more meplat. Darn ! Mail came, nothing from Idaho.

Just got my shorty .480 SBH back from Rob Rowen (see photos below). They are stunning and fit my hand perfectly. Next is a tune-up and a taller front sight, and I believe it will be a contender for the Perfect Packing Pistol. JMHO. A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A PPP!!!!
