My newly arrived FA model 83 has the removable front sight and came with multiple blades. I've never been a fan of a ramp front sight (prefer a Clements HD style) and plan to change it. However, after removing the Allen screw, the blade is still extremely tight. By looking at the other blades I get where it slides into a recess (for lack of a better word this second) and then the Allen screw locks the blade in. This bad boy is in there and doesn't plan to come out. What else is holding it in besides interference fit?
It's my first FA revolver here so before I force it, I'll ask the dumb question......

I've run into that a couple times. Usually just a tight fit.
I usually put a piece of leather on each side and use pliers. Sometimes, tap it a bit with a nylon hammer first.

Thank you Sir. I've done both so far, but didn't get too crazy forcing the whole thing.
Kinda funny on me as I've replaced every front sight I have on my Blackhawk's with Clements blades and though they are very snug, they come out/go in with no problem. This FA blade is flat out tight like the rest of the gun.
I didn't want to resort to the "bigger hammer" mode until necessary.

Put some penetrating oil in the screw hole and let it work for a while. It'll eventually free up.

Indeed it did. The blade I replaced it with was not nearly as tight.
Thanks,
