I read on thefiringline.com where you posted about converting BFRs to .50 Alaskan and .500 Martin. The post was all the way back in 2005. So now I gots ta' know, what is the .500 Martin? Also, how can I get one?!

Believe its simply the 50 Alaskan necked down slightly to take the .500" bullets instead of the .510".

The .500 Martin is a .50 Alaskan necked to 0.500". We cut the reamers and dies in 2004, and dad made an Encore barrel for it. That's where the load data came from (minus 100 fps for cylinder gap). I planned on converting my .500 S&W BFR, but never did. Eventually, that gun became a .50 Alaskan. Here's the write-up. www.singleactions.com/50AlaskanBFRs.htmlB&M Rifles created the same cartridge a few years later. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"
