Apparently Ruger has made some 475 Linebaughs again. Several are on GB. They are running in the $1400 range. That would be a fun gun to play with.

I bought one of the first run. Think they are clearing out a few of the 475 Linebaugh and 460 S&W guns.

Kelly schlep killed a bison cow with a 475 and one of his punch bullets. I watched the bullet go through and into the dirt. Kelly dug and dug while we gutted his buffalo. Finally found the bullet a foot into north Dakota dirt(?) after passing through both shoulders.

He dug quite a trench looking for the bullet. Wish I had taken a picture of it but I was rather bloody after removing the bison entrails. I think Kelly's trench was four feet long maybe more.

If u got my hands on one, I'd have it rebored to be a .475 GNR/JDJ. That would be one powerful rifle!

The #1 475 is a light rifle, and has plenty of kick as is, without rechambering to anything. Kelye

Rechambering it was my thought, worst case, if it wasn't enough , but it's enough. Surely for anything I'm likely to shoot. Keeping it "cheap" to shoot was the reason I bought the 475 , rather than the 450/400 that my irrational heart really wanted. The logic being sound, if it's cheaper to shoot, I'll shoot it a lot. But I don't. Maybe I should have got the 450/400. Doh!

I wonder if there's enough meat in the #1S barrel to rebore to 500 Linebaugh?

I know John likes to start with a gun in 375 H&H and rebarrel it.
