LOL... thanks Ken... that was correctly pointed out when I attended the shoot...
I out shot both of my buddies that attended, but did not shoot a qualifying score... however my buddies 18 year old nephew did though ( the only one in the group ) I think I could have easily shot a qualifying score if I could see better... turns out my vision is worse than my shakes... I had been wanting to try to pass with the military style iron sights, but my old eyes / vision is not up to the task... now, I'm in the process of pulling those Tech sights off & mounting a a good scope ( seems like cheating, but as long as it's allowed, I guess I need the help )... where I was losing the most points, was on the smaller targets, shooting prone & I just couldn't see the targets well enough to get the points... so, I'm in the process of mounting a Pride Fowler 22 LR 3 - 12 X first focal plane scope & will try it again next summer... I bought a 50 pack of AQT targets to practice with, for next summer, with plans that the 3rd time is a charm... rather than 3 strikes & I'm out
BTW... I must be in better shape than my buddies, as I really didn't have too much issue with all the transitions from shooting positions like they seemed to have issue with, I'm definitely not flexible, & was put into some positions my body has not seen in a while, but I didn't seem to be as wore out by the end of a full days shooting... so hoping I can do it next year, before I get any older
BTW #2... F3... the instructors showed me how to use the loop sling properly... I think I can shoot a little more accurately using it, but I ended up transitioning back to the conventional method by the end of the day, because of all the transition shooting positions, & up / down back to reload etc. it was a lot harder to get it on & off in the time allowed, rather than just looping your arm through the sling traditionally
thanks for everyone's suggestions
