I have the opportunity to get a very nice five screw combat masterpiece .38 special in the original box for 500. I've never owned or shot one of these models and I am looking for any info about the revolver and if this is a good deal. Thanks

I'd jump on it at that price!.. Smith's from that era are top notch quality.

Thanks ***** From the leather as fast a double action as there ever was, and nothing since is faster. This is the cream for learning proper double action technique----without that weird staging some practitioners subscribe to. This gun is like a good mountain bike on twisting trails, it just goes. If the lockwork is glazed with oxidized oil, clean and lube with any good motor oil or chassis grease. Be sure the STOP (cylinder stop) functions fast and that CARRY UP (a.k.a. timing) indexes before or at hammer fall in DA & SA. Always eject muzzle up to prevent powder granules collecting under the star.. If you haven’t had one of these apart, have someone who knows teach you. Unless you are mechan]cally clear, have someone proper clean & lube. These K-frames are gunmakers art. Fire only KNOWN AMMUNITION and no blue pills! David Bradshaw

Thanks Sounds like I should jump on this deal. maybe some nice grashorn grips and good leather will be in order. run it by my gunsmith for a clean up and lube of the internals. the gun has very minimal wear mainly just holster wear at the front of the barrel. Grips are matching to the gun as well as the box. sounds like a good deal thanks for all the replies.

If you don't grab it someone else will. They don't come along at that price very often. Good luck.
