If practiced enough, it's a very capable shot, along with the right bullet. As you have proven, nice shooting.

Ed, I have had a pile of TC barrels over the years. When I had the biggest interest, a lot younger and money was a lot tighter. When the Encore came out I just had to have one. Lose change was saved and all the extra OT I could scrape up was taken. A year later I had one. Knowingly going in on reports of a heavy trigger, I still jumped on one. First barrel was a 308. Always wanted a 309JDJ, but I consider it to much of a good thing for the platform, thus my wants of the 308. Bone stock factory barrel. I will say it is the very best barrel from TC I have. The whole rig was close to going down the road because of the trigger. It was so heavy from the factory my RCBS gauge would not go that high! I saw a lot of fly by night local smiths make them worse. Then this Bellm fellow enetered the picture and I gave him a try. Well I have had mine down into the ounces and it was safe to all that handled it and tried various attempts at getting it to trip off. There was no dreaded push off either, cock the hammer, then push on it with a thumb. I was suprised at how many trigger jobs on these and now the G2 that will do this.
A bit over hoss powered for the IHMSA game, but I shot it for several years as such. I shot my biggest and heaviest Kansas white tail with it. This was one of those hot shot things where everything was perfect, in a odd situation. Walking across a bean field in a heavy snow to my stand. Buck jumps from thin cover with snow on his back at about 60 yards, runs stops and looks back at about 120 yards. Had pistola drawn and cocked with out ever thinking about it. Horns were wider than the ears, that was my last thought and the gun went off. All this happening whilst standing up right. Bang, short run and a flop. If I had to think about it, I would have missed for sure. My past few years of shooting standing discipline in IHMSA is THE reason that came together that day. Would I try it again, I think not.
I see you and the Mrs have a liking for the 35 Remington. I do as well. A lot over look it and consider it old. Mr Barsness or Mr Pierce did some work with it on an up dated scale a while back. Mine is refered to as a 35 rimmed. 30-40 Krag brass or 303 British case is used. I appreciate the rim on these break open guns.
Saw you mention of the 375WW as well. Another fine cartridge that has not received its due. Mine almost got sent to JD to be opened up. Then I came to my senses and quit planting peanuts in the garden, no more rogue elephant problems after that, lol.

I too have been a long time fan of the 308 cartridge, it actually comes pretty close to the 30/06 with factory ammo. The 06 has to be handloaded to get some real seperation in velocity. I took several animals with an old pre 64 & a few Texas turkeys. After my rifle days were over it was a Bullberry 308 pistol barrel that carried the day. Took a spike bull one fall while I laid in the snow & watched him & another spike & 4 cows walk along an open hillside across the canyon from me. The shot wasn't as long as Ed's but a fair piece as I recall. One shot using a 135 gr. Sierra Single Shot Pistol bullet rolled him down the hill. I've wrote this up before but on my way out I killed a muley buck with my 250 Savage Improved Bullberry, fun day! I've shown the photo's many times here on the forum of both animals on my 4 wheeler. On returning the next day for the elk he was almost totally gone, the bears had got to him before we got there to pack him out.
