Today my most fired center fired sixgun had a misfire. I've owned it since 1977.

Bet if you try it again it goes bang! Wasn't seated to the bottom.

Can't tell, but that dimple doesn't look big enough. But I don't shoot that 45 ACP much and I've never shot it in a revolver.

lah; The "dimple" is always small when the cartridge doesn't fire (the case is not set back hard against the firing pin as when it is fired). I agree with "Clintsfolly" that the primer looks as if it wasn't seated all the way. That assumes that the revolver is not suffering from a broken firing pin, or...

I,m betting that LAH knows exactly what the problem is or was. I think he was disappointed that he had a misfire after only 40 years with shooting that side arm.

Sorry for not coming back to this sooner. I took the misfired round & run it through the gun 4 times without it firing. I don't think the case was too short though I haven't measured it. These cases are dedicated to the gun & this is their 3rd firing. The photo makes the pin strike look off centered. While the strike isn't perfectly centered it's not bad. I thinking bad primer. The dud round is on the far left.

Glad it wasn't one of those times when you really needed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One in 40 yrs ain't a bad average. Probably means you shouldn't have another during the rest of your shooting career.
