Recently purchased this DW 32 mag and when loading with factory ammo I noticed how much room was left in the cylinder from the top of chambered round... I know this is a 357 frame and thought of opening chambers to accept 327 Federal cartridge and I`am sure it can be done but wanted to hear it from you guys.... What are your thoughts? ?

Whoa brother. While it could easily be done and would most certainly be worthwhile you must consider the collector value of original piece.
It might be worth considering fabricating an additional cylinder. You might even want to look at the 32-20 as it has a bit more capacity than the 327 Fed.

I wouldn't. If I wanted more power, I'd look at seating the bullets .125" further out and loading to .327 specs. Or just selling it and get a .357. You could probably get a new 15-2 for what that revolver is worth.

Just because something can be done, doesn't mean it should. I know you know that, my friend, but I'm just adding a "me too" to the above comments, from the standpoint of collectable value. I know this isn't the last gun you will buy ... shop for another .327.

Devils advocate and all I'm going to go the other way for a couple of reasons. This same decision is often agonized over by owners of the Ruger Buckeyes and many eventually decide to make it what they want it to be. The additional reaming length is so small it will be almost unnoticeable in the long run. That and the world of Dan Wesson. The DW shooters I know are not nearly as fanatical as S&W collectors. Most buy them to shoot them and many of the equally uncommon stretch frame guns are often sent off for personalization. To be remise to ream it would indicate a need to preserve it and suggest it also should not be shot in the interest of preservation. I say do what you want with it but first completely explore the world of 32 mag. That little sucker , in a full sized gun with decent barrel length is capable of very nearly the same performance as the 327 fed. If you push the 32 mag to the ceiling you may decide the extra step is unnecessary.

Elgin gave me a Field Pistol .32 8"HB way back when. I wouldn't touch this one BUT I picked up a stainless pair of DWs years ago, .32-20 & .32 Magnum. I had Gary Reeder chamber the .32 Stainless to .327 which gives me all three of the .32s in DW HB sixguns. No regrets.

Just turned a 1961 S&W .22 Jet into a .327.... While the .32 H&R is a great "little" round a DW/S&W K-frame size gun screams to be made in .327 Federal...
I say go for it.

some interesting, honest answers.... looks like 4 to 3 not to do.... and 2 in between.... I was doing what "needmostuff" had to say, from the start, and see how accurate my handloads will be.... most of the listed loads have powders I`am short on or don`t have any at all... Then I go to my garage and after going through a number of boxes I find Handguns Annual 1991 with a article about all of DW`s magnums by JT....there on page 128 is a column of 32 mag loads listing AA#9 of which I have around 12 lbs.....a good place to start.... then have to locate some decent cast and see where they go.....Thanks guys...........................

I can remember when you couldn't give away a Dan Wesson revolver, now they have gotten to be quit expensive. I would try to locate a spare cylinder. But what ever you do I'll bet you make the best of it.
