I have one of the heavy barrel versions. My brother glass bedded it and tuned the trigger. It's a fine shooter for sure.

A 541T-HB was my first bolt gun. Got the fever for it after reading John Lachuk's writing about it. It's been a great rifle and has accounted for a truckload of small game and varmints. Haven't shot it in a while, need to show it some love.

I bought and sadly sold 5, 541-S rifles. Then I wised up I bought another one and I'm not selling it.

Looking back I regret walking past a brand new 541 T so many times at a now long since gone LGS and not buying it.

Had a 541T. I would hate to guess the amount of critter that I shot with that rifle. Great guns!

My daughters have claimed my 541 CS as their grouse hunting rifle. That's okay with me since I like to take them hunting.

I had a 541-S for several years. When the Ruger 77-22 was introduced, I handled every one I found, until I hit one with a "perfect" trigger, bluing, and stock. After testing both side by side for accuracy, I sold the Rem. to a friend who had pestered me for it for a while. Great rifles.

I had a fellow bring a 541 into the shop today, in a configuration I've never see. The forend tip, grip cap, and buttplate were all made of a two-tone, swirled plastic, in reds and browns mixed together. Almost looked like bakelite, with a very shiny gloss finish.
Never seen the like before. I don't recall if it was a C, S, or T, but the action was fairly well covered with engraving that I suspect was machine cut.
Any comments?

Yes. That's exactly what my 541-S looked like, as well as the others I've seen around here, dating from the late 70's. High gloss bluing and stock, too.

Owned a 541S in the 70s myself.. Nice little rifle. FWIW the current high speed low drag, run fast shoot fast crowd doesn't lend itself well to the accurate bolt action 22LR gun. Something special about any one hole gun at my house. My 22LR rifles include a single shot Kimber 82G and a pair of Winchester 52 repeaters...

Otony Otony, that's exactly what my 541 CS looks like. I think it's called the Custom Sporter. I'd bet that the forend cap, buttplate and gripcap are made of Zytel, the same material that their Remington Nylon 66 stocks are made from.
