Thank's taffin I want to say the same thing every dang time I see "boolits". THANK YOU! IT SETS ME OFF WORSE THAN .45 LONG COLT, WHEELGUNS, AND CLIPS INSTEAD OF MAGAZINES. Nothing bothers me more than clips instead of magazines. 45 Long Colt a close second. Mr. Taffin, all of this 45 history talk; is this the basis for a chapter or two in the yet to be printed, hard cover, full color, "Book of the .45?" Mark

The word "pills" for bullets really sets me off.
Also Sheriff Jim not laying his position title to rest with his retirement.

THANK YOU! IT SETS ME OFF WORSE THAN .45 LONG COLT, WHEELGUNS, AND CLIPS INSTEAD OF MAGAZINES. How about calling stocks-grips? THE PROBLEM HERE IS TWO GOOD FRIENDS! ROD HERRETT INSISTS THEY ARE STOCKS WHILE THE LATE DEACON DEASON OF BEARHUG SAYS NO THEY ARE GRIPS. BECAUSE OF THESE TWO I USE BOTH TERMS INTERCHANGEABLY.

Sorry guys but I come from the "cast boolit" site and it is how we designate cast instead of jacketed bullets. A lot easier to type boolit instead of cast bullet. Anyone that shoots cast only knows the meaning. When I mean bullet, I am not going to type "jacketed bullet" so get over it. A "bullet" has a condom on it! ;D

For me "boolit" is always a speed bump in a sentence. For some reason I have to slow down and reread to make sure of what I'm reading. Funny how before the internet it was no problem to state either "cast bullet", "swaged bullet" or "jacketed bullet". Now everybody's lazy.
I can't decide which makes me cringe harder, "wheelgun" or .45 "Long" Colt. Neither gag me as hard as the cutesy little names some folks like to give their pet shootin' iron like Winnie, Remmie, Bushy, Shottie, etc., etc., ad nauseum. What are we, 12yr old girls???

I have a friend who named his double barreled coach gun Christine after his wife. He loved that gun, but every once in a while it would give him both barrels with no warning... That's a nickname I understood. While I'm rambling on a thread that's going off topic, I'll add: Same guy, same gun - he let his 7 year shoot it. It fired both barrels and landed the kid on his back. This tough little guy gets up and is ready to shoot it again. Daddy only loads one a time for him now.

YES MUST TAKE EXTRA HOURS OR DAYS TO TYPE THE RIGHT TERMINOLOGY Anyone that shoots cast only knows the meaning. When I mean bullet, I am not going to type "jacketed bullet" so get over it. A "bullet" has a condom on it! ;D NO I AM NOT GOING TO GET OVER IT AND AT MY AGE I DON'T TAKE ORDERS FROM ANYONE. , I ALREADY KNEW THE MEANING AND IT IS TOTAL NONSENSE!!!!!!!!! "ANYONE THAT SHOOTS CAST BULLETS ONLY KNOWS THE MEANING" AGAIN NONSENSE. I KNOW A LOT OF CAST BULLET ONLY SHOOTERS WHO HAVE NEVER HEARD OR USED THE TERM. IF IT IS CAST BULLET SITE THEN WHY CAN'T YOU JUST SAY BULLETS? ??

Now you gentlemen are sounding like Carl when people start taling about old model Vaqueros and new model Vaqueros I bought an old Vaquero. It was used. I still have a new Vaquero as it is still unfired. I have a couple of new New Vaqueros also unfired. Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I just wanted to have a little fun with word play. To be honest I get more upset when people use irregardless (not a word) for the word regardless, use the word prostrate when talking about their prostate gland, etc. I also get irritated at those people who use run on sentences without puntuation and depend on "spill chick" instead of using a dictionary. For the historians in this group, was there ever a cartridge named the 45 Short Colt? I also marvel that when I use the term 45 Colt, some shooters think I am talking about the 45 ACP. One last pet peeve, it is LEUpold not LEOpold.

Hey, whose head did I bite off? If you go to the cast boolits site, you will see it is spelled "BOOLITS." Not my doing and everyone there uses the word. Some of you can type but when I have to use one finger and search for letters, it makes it easier. I have pet peeves too like "you have to obturate the boolit." Well you can't obturate a boolit, you can obturate the bore by expanding the boolit or using the right diameter to start with to obturate the bore. Another good one is the gun "rolls" in the hand nicely. I just ignore all of that stuff until it is causing someone a problem. If you don't like "boolit", I will use bullet here but nobody will know just what bullet I will be talking about because I will not type cast or jacketed. Should I become a spelling or definition Nazi against all of you too?
