I would love to have a S&W model 25 in 45 Colt with a five inch full underlug barrel. Therein lies the problem. How can I procure or create that barrel? Thanks in advance gentlemen.

I've not seen a 25 with full underlug, but have seen the 625. Pretty sure there are lots of 29's classics that could be converted. I think there are a few guys still doing rebores.

Could always get one of the 5" model 29 Classics and do some swapping. Probably wouldn't be too hard to find a 4" or 6" barrel to end up on the 29.

I really really wanted a Smith 45ACP Mountain Gun. When one became available on Gunbroker I found myself involved in an intense bidding war. I happened to be on a conference call with some friends/enablers who egged me on ruthlessly and I won the auction. I paid a hefty sum for that MG and with Smiths hit and miss quality I was pretty nervous about it. Fortunately it's a real tack driver and I wouldn't take 3 times what I paid for it.

Smith made just what you are looking for...it had a matte blue finish, 5" full underlug barrel and unfluted cylinder. I had one for a short time but not being a .45 Colt guy sold it to a friend....
I'm out of town for a while so don't have access to my Standard Catalog of S&W but the gun is in the book...

A week or so ago, one like that sans box or papers sold for about half that much. I didn't know such existed till I looked it up. I see you had bid on this one. Went beyond what I expected. My Grail gun has always been the 26-1 Georgia State Patrol Comm., with 5 inch slim barrel. Not many around. I do know of one for sale but its a bit rich for my blood. The 25-7 model mentioned here is another neat revolver, made also as a -9 in same configuration. I had a Mtn Gun in .45 Colt once but foolishly sold it for about half what they get now. Sigh....

Ultimately I'd like a five inch 45, full lug. That one of 48 was cool and I threw one bid at it. I have a backup gun/plan and will talk to Andy tomorrow

The 25-7 is about as close as you're going to get.... Has a 5" barrel and the throats are right but no full underlug... I've got one now after foolishly selling the 1st one I had....

OK my foul.....The grips didn't cost NEAR what they might have.....and far less than they were worth.
