Just got a pound of this stuff the other day and tried it today in my LRB M14 using 168 Matchkings. This stuff really shoots. Starting with 38.5grs and working up to 40.5 by halves it turned in a couple of half inch groups and only one of 5 groups was over an inch barely. Burn rate is said to be similar to H4895 but I think it may be a tad faster even, need to chrono. Shows much promise.

I used it in 5.56/223 Rem and 30-30 Win. Meters like sand and works well IME.

nolongcolt.... Accurate Arms 2460 is, as you suspect accorded a faster burn rate than 4895. According to the Hodgdon chart AA 2460 ball powder is between IMR 3031 and IMR and Hodgdon 4895----with 4895 the hub of the wheel for medium-burn stick powders. My experience with AA2460 centers around single shot pistols, with excellent accuracy, to include the 7mm TCU. Didn’t try AA 2460 in hard North Country cold, where some ball powders resist standard ignition, but it held stability in Western heat. Another Accurate powder producing accuracy in the .308----AA 2520.
The .308 Winchester enjoys the balance of Buddha, reaching excellence with many powders. David Bradshaw

Oddly my AA booklet list 748, BLc2, H335 and 3031 as "comparative" powders, but not for reloading purposes. I can see the 3031 and H335 but the others are much slower, not sure why AA would even use them for comparison. At any rate I hope to find some 2520 to try and judging how well my M14 shot the 2460 and having read that the slightly slower 2520 is a winners circle powder it should be pretty good as well.

I've used AA-2230C in my .308 Winchesters which is similar. Loved how it grouped and metered from the powder measure but I couldn't get the ES & SD down where I liked (even with magnum primers). Here's a couple I tried in my Savage Target Rifle (ahem!) Bullet: Sierra 168 gr. HPBT MatchKing Powder: Accurate 2230C 41.1 grs Primer: Winchester Large Rifle Case: Winchester LOAL: 2.810 (2.230 base to ogive with Stoney Point) Average Velocity: 2566.74 fps Extreme Spread: 75.59 Standard Deviation: 25.59 Comments: One inch group for five shots at 200 yards. Bullet: Sierra 168 gr. HPBT MatchKing Powder: Accurate 2230C 41.5 grs Primer: Federal 215 Case: Lapua LOAL: 2.810 (2.230 Base to Ogive with Stoney Point) Average Velocity: 2651.67 fps Extreme Spread: 70.33 Standard Deviation: 21.28
