Love the grip panels -- beautiful. I think you are going to like the conversion. Just a couple of suggestions. Call Freedom Arms and order: 1. Extra firing pin. 2. Extra Bolt Spring 3. Extra Trigger Spring. Cheap insurance and might save you some down time. I bought a similar conversion that Jack did. Here's a (not so good picture). Mines a 5" w/FA winewood grip panels. Here are some three shot groups I shot off the tonneau on the back of my pickup. 52 yds IIRC with a Leupold 4x. Close up of the top 4 (3 shot ea) groups. Enjoy.

Now that great looking holster appears to be a Wyoming Combination - you have excellent all-around tastes.

After reading your post I looked at the gun and found it is the old style pressed in firing pin. I called Freedom Arms and they told me they will convert it to the removable type for $106 plus return shipping. They also said if I don't dry fire it I should not have a problem. However, it is good to know if I do have a problem I can get it fixed. My 83 454 is the removable type. Thanks for the heads up!

Yes sir it is a Wyoming combo. Snyd showed me his and I really liked it!
Thanks again All!

It is true that if you don’t dry-fire, the firing pin is unlikely to break. However, who among us has never dry-fired while shooting a partially loaded cylinder? Buy a couple extra firing pins & springs. Also, an extra mainspring and trigger spring doesn’t hurt. If a mainspring dies, the first evidence----other than easier cocking----is PRIMER BLANKING, followed by misfires as the mainspring weakens further. David Bradshaw

Perry has you hooked for sure. Good point is his knowledge comes from doing it hardcore.

Thanks Bradshaw I am sending it to Freedom Arms tomorrow. They told me it would take about a week. Then I'll send it for engraving. Yes Snyd is to blame! Bad Snyd. It cost me a lot of money! We shot it today and wouldn't you know the firing pin was sticking! It has ample spring tension. The same as my newer 83. I believe it was just bone dry! I oiled it really well with break free. I primed 50 case and fired them and did not have another stick! However, I'll still send it for the conversion. Thanks all for the advice and compliments!

What can I say, us Sixgunners need to stick together and support each other. Which includes helping spend their money! BTW...It was very nice meeting my new godson today. It will fun feeding him and getting to know him more

coloradoyaler.... forgot on my list to suggest having Freedom Arms drill & tap trigger for a stop screw.
Trigger stop It’s a personal preference item: I don’t miss it at on on a Ruger but prefer a trigger stop on the Casull. Or, if you’re familiar with the work you can buy a spare trigger with stop screw and fit it yourself. You may not want the stop on that cannon. Comes down to preference. (Ruger New Model lockwork is designed for transfer bar to cover firing pin as trigger sweeps rearward. A stop might cause light indent.) Even on an “old model” I prefer the trigger to sweep ala Peacemaker.
Engraving The hard not to mention stainless steel of you Freedom Arms presents a challenge to the engraver, worth discussing with prospective artisan. David Bradshaw

many years ago while hunting down at the YO I broke the firing pin on a new FA`s m-83 in 357 and Rey Garza out of Brownsville had a spare he gave me and since then I carry an extra pin, spring and bit to remove bushing....
