Hey fellas,
I decided to put a Bisley grip on my Super Blackhawk. It came in yesterday and, as I expected, their really isn't a finish. So what's the process I need to do to get rid of the rough casting marks and give the whole thing that brushed-stainless look to match the rest of my revolver? Any help is most appreciated guys. Much obliged.

I use Scotch-Brite #7447 Maroon Pads to duplicate the factory finish on Stainless guns. You can find them at any local Auto Supply or Amazon & eBay.

Well, the scotch brite comes at the end. This is way off. Started sanding by hand last night and it's hard work. I did some pricing today and it will cost $90 to $125 sans shipping. So I think I'll just grow some patience. Any suggestions would be helpful. Lee, you got any advice?

How are you sanding it? You should mount it to the cylinder frame of the intended gun. Then using an assortment of files fit the grip frame to the cylinder frame. Once they are flush to one another at all of their mating surfaces, then start using different grits of sandpaper or emery cloth to remove the file marks and to polish. Once that is all done to you liking then use the scotchbrite to get the brushed look as the final step.
I was very generic in the steps above, it is important to work them as an assembly rather than individually so the fit is seamless. By working them independently there will be a very noticeable line at their mating surfaces. There is a recent thread showing this, take a look to find that as it had good info as well as what not to do.

I may have bitten off more than I can chew. It might be best to send this off to have the whole damn thing fitted and finished correctly. 😞

It's not so bad, just do a bit at a time and don't rush it.

I have no skills in this regard. I can't even saw a straight edge on a 2 x 4. Mine would go to Alan or Jack or....
I am envious of guys that can do this kind of thing. I can change parts like a mechanic, but machine shop work is my older brother's thing.

I took my SBH apart, and the good news is that it plays up just fine. All of the screws line up perfectly, but you can see where there is excess metal. So it really just needs to be slimmed to the right fit and given the brushed finish. Thanks for the links guys. I still might have someone with more skills than me fit it, but I'm less intimidated now.

I haven't taken a Ruger S/A a-part in a few years so there are some cobwebs in my eyes. To start, I would take it all down, and coat all moving parts in Dykem (or rub everything with sharpie). Then reassemble and cycle.
Something is hanging up, the spots that wear the ink will show you where. Having fitted a bisley frame that was in the white before really opened my eyes to how much fitting is required to get everything right. I had to do a good bit of filing inside to get things to a happy place.
You will get there, just focus on doing it right. The Power video showed some great tips, wish I'd seen that before blazing that path.
