I found a really nice condition Virginian Dragoon in 357 Magnum today. It is blue with a color case hardened frame, and it has a 10" barrel. I thought this was a little unusual so I bought it. The asking price was $275.00, but the seller came down to $250.00. They didn't have the box or anything with it, but they did say that they got it from someone 15 or more years ago. It's an interesting looking revolver, and a little big for a .357, but still neat. It's got the adjustable rear sight, and a white dot front sight. The serial # is A 360xx. Any idea of when it was made?

You stole it for $250. Based on the serial number, it was likely built in late '77 or early '78. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I showed it to Rob Leahy of simplyrugged.com fame when I stopped in Wasilla on my drive home and he held it up against his boot because it looked longer than 10". How's that for a field expedient? It's got a 12" barrel on it instead of a 10".

I handled a Virginia Dragoon at a gun show last year. Pretty stout revolvers. They feel heavier than a Blackhawk, but I could be wrong. Too bad they're no longer made.

See there? That is the very boot he measured the barrel against. Thanks for the great example, Rob.
