Joe, that fiber optic front is not doing you any favors in the good group department. Think about it, the more light, the bigger the dot. Less light makes it smaller. Now look at the vertical dispersion on your target. Note that the vast majority of your shots are quite tight vertically.

Oh yea i am not a fan of these sights on a hunting/ target gun. This GP is going to be a hunting/ packing on the farm gun. I'd imagine i will swap it out for a patridge style sight once I get around to it.

I equate the fiber optic to a brass bead sight. David Bradshaw can correct me if I am wrong, But I believe that the higher the Sun is, the higher you will shoot. and when the Sun is lower you have a tendency to shoot lower. I have not even seen one of these pistols. Probably a good thing since I like the looks of them so much. ( I have other fish to fry right now ) But I was wondering if it was possible ?? ( I don't know how Ruger designed or built these) Can the fiber optic be removed without damage? It would be nice to have the option of changing to different colors, or even opt out to a black or white insert. Men are more color blind than Women BTW...
I deleted a question earlier about powders. But will throw it out here now. I ask about some 2400 or some Longshot for options. I do know from experience that the Skeeter load is hard to beat for a General purpose carry load. I am not one to argue with success. I look forward to others test results.

I dont know if that insert is easily removable or not, but since the sight is dovetailed in, it wouldnt be difficult to swap it out. The rear sight is white outline. I think somewhere down the line i have seen white line front sights for them. May give one a try if i can find one.
I have 2400 but no Longshot. Most of my powder is boxed up (we are about to move) so it will be a while before i can really play with different loads but i am well pleased with this load for now.

I understand and don't blame you about the load.

Dragging about a bit late here. I cast up some Terminators, baked on some PC, sized and loaded them up in 44 Magnum brass on 10.0 grains of Unique. I’m going to try this first load in a couple of my Smith 29’s.

The 44 Terminator was a 2.75" barrel Lee Horton/Astra 44 Magnum. At the time of it's arrival from Spain, the shortest barrel 44 Mag that I had ever seen was 4". If I am not mistaken, the guns were imported with 6" barrels, then cut down here in the states for Lee Horton's distribution.

I am also using the Terminator in my 5.5 in Flat Top 44 Special with 17.0/2400 which is giving the large HP version 1256 ave - the solid runs 1240. I plan to turn this on a hog or two in about a week and a half will report back if the Fates prevail.

Jack, it would seem that my alloy once annealed by baking on the PC was too soft because I saw skidding in my barrel. I went back and water quenched a batch and am wondering what your alloy is?

Jack, it would seem that my alloy once annealed by baking on the PC was too soft because I saw skidding in my barrel. I went back and water quenched a batch and am wondering what your alloy is? I run a little harder than Bob recommends, but it has been working for me. I was using an 80/20 WW to lead and PC - with this bullet and a couple of others too - but above 1200 I was getting some skidding too, and I was getting a bit of under penetration for my tastes. I went to 90/10 for my bullets I am pushing in the 1150 to 1300 range give or take and have been quite happy this far. I have been using wheel weights and pc for loads i the 1300 range up - so far so good. The bullets I will be using this coming weekend are 90/10 and PC. The Terminator with small HP, and The Terminator with cup are coming along in the 44 special at a nominal 1250. Also a 500 JRH with a 430gr HP from an NOE mold that is running just a tad under 1200. That last bullet and load collided with a middling size 6 point whitetail (About 180 or so dressed) the last day of our deer season. It entered the onside shoulder and exited the center of the rib cage. THat deer was very deceased very quickly. I recovered a couple of petals in the onside shoulder, and one next to the exit hole. THere was a fair amount of damage
