Mine is a nickname that stuck from my first commercial river trip in Grand Canyon. All those old boatmen would say do this and do that , "and make it snappy!". I wanted to get invited back and was working circles around everybody else and soon after was getting introduced to other trip leaders and passengers as snappy. There were people down there for years that never called me anything else. There is a bit more to the story, but the nickname was never because of the way I dressed! haha

It's because of my hairy back. OK, not really. Way back when I lived and breathed mountain bikes and trail riding I had (and still have) a couple of Yeti brand bikes (among several others). This was back when John Parker still owned Yeti, before Schwinn and other owners took over. Among the people I rode with I became known as the Yeti Man, which was also the logo on the head tube of all Yeti frames back then. The name stuck. I still ride a lot, but more on the road than off these days. The Yeti Man :

Otony is short for Orthodox Tony. I'm a tonsured Reader in the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia since 2000. I've been going to a Russian church since 1994. Been using the handle since 1998 when I was hanging around online with John Taffin and JIM Taylor.

Retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the Coast Guard and added my initials. Started using the Anchor as an avatar because folks started thinking I was a police or fire chief.

Interesting discussion. I recently pm'd someone on here because I thought I knew what their handle meant. Turns out I didn't. Ha!
Mine is an old name for a scout helicopter pilot.
