The bigger question is, who the hell pays ten grand for them??? For ten grand, there's a Merkel .500NE with my name on it.

Probably wouldn't be nearly as good an investment, but I'd actually prefer the revolvers. I'll probably never go on a hunting safari for anything big (like to, but...) so i'd never use nor fully appreciate the big rifle.
I personally can't rationalize paying $10k for them right now though. If price were $5k, I would.
I'm still really curious how one could get first and last like that without being really lucky or connected.

I like how it says it will take most North American game animals

I'm showing my ignorance here, but... Shouldn't they be capable of taking most north American game animals? It seems like I've heard most big game animals including African have been taken with the 454.

I think the idea is that they can take ALL North American game. Probably with two shots if you lined them up just right.

I don't put people on pedestals, let alone firearms. So, the number is kinda meaningless to me, wouldn't change it's worth, to me. George Washington's outhouse not high on my list either. I can only scratch my head and wonder at these kinda things.

Sqawberryman: oops! Now I get it.
Potatojudge: thanks! That's funny!
Bullasteve: agreed. I do think it would be neat, but... I would probably shoot the things and ruin their collector value. Don't know how many custom knives I've decreased value by using. I carried / babied an expensive pocket knife for a long time then accidentally put some big scratches on the blade. Best thing I could've done because I then started to really utilize and appreciate it.
