Thanks for the "good news" I guess to a degree it was inevitable. My doctor told me there is a hereditary component and my younger brother has already had both done. I did not to my knowledge suffer any kind of trauma although I tend to shrug off most things anyhow. Evidence of that was in preparation for the knee MRI I had to have an X-ray of my eyes in case there was any metal as I occasionally work in such an environment. The radiologist cleared the eyes but asked me where I got the skull fracture!

Like you Snyd, the doctor warned me that the. The meniscus repair simply lets us push the partial replacement out 4-5 years. Shoot, he even showed me the model of what will be done in the future so I can start getting mentally ready.

As you doubtless already know, listen to your therapist! I had my right knee totally replaced in 2015, and the left one is telling me that it needs it done now. Too many years of running in the Army, along with other destructive activities (jumping down off of tanks, etc.).

As the thread title states: "I had knee surgery today". Actually it was yesterday afternoon and having not eaten since the day before and with getting settled in at home I did not get around to signing in until this morning. The procedure went well and I wasn't too nervous about it as I had much confidence in the doc: My daughter is a surgical nurse at the same hospital. Of the 6-8 orthopedic surgeons practicing there she knows first hand which one to pick.
Feeling good this morning and my thoughts are not really the present "situation" but rather those of getting old ...

Take it slow for as long as you need to, don't rush the recovery. I spent a lot of time this year helping out an old friend of mine that had knee surgery on his left side for the 5th time. He turned 70 last week and refuses to take it easy, gets in his Peterbuilt nearly every day, you can imagine that stiff clutch pedal isnt helping him. When I suggested that he trade that old truck in for one with an automatic, he had some very colorful words for me that won't allow repeating here.

Wish you speedy recovery. Only surgery I ever had was a hernia....
Still... reading this thread reminds me why I don't exercise. People don't get knee damage in their lazyboy. Or need rescuing from Camelback Mountain.... or eaten by sharks. No sir. Exercise is dangerous!

Been riding my stationary bike, walking and even doing light squats.

Sorry I did not offer sufficient context in today's post but one month ago I added to this thread that I would be getting the same repair on the same knee.
