Had this older pair of Grasshorn Elk Stags hanging around that came off a 19-5 that I sold about 8 years ago. Figured they ought to be on something, so I picked up this brandy new 3" Talo 686 Plus 3-5-7 today. Pretty decent double action trigger right out of the box. Ran 50 d/a rounds through it at the range to dial the sights in. So far I'm liking it.

That's nice! I didn't know they used case hardened hammers and triggers on the new guns.

That's nice! I didn't know they used case hardened hammers and triggers on the new guns. That *may* be one of the changes on the Talo edition along with the unfluted cylinder, and the wood grips (which now reside in the box) I had the stags on it before the paperwork was even done!

That's a beauty. 3 inch is a perfect packing gun length. Grips are perfect.

Stags and a Tyler T make a good looking revolver look just that much better...

Congrats on your 3"er. That's a handy size for carry and good looking too.

Put 100 rounds through it so far. Pretty much have the sights dialed in at this point. Might need just a touch more fine tuning when I settle in on a load for it. Loaded up 100 rounds for (hopefully) Tuesday night. So far I've just been shooting some Rainier plated 158gr, and some Speer JSP 158gr through it. Maybe next week I'll try out some cast. I've got some Dardas .358 158gr SWC's that don't fit through the throats, and the Speer .357's go through with a snug fit. Same is true for my 627 V-Comp, and the Dardas SWC's shoot well out of it with no leadding, so hopefully they'll do well in the 686 as well.

That is one sharp looking pistol!!! Congrats on that one. The combo is perfect,,, Unfluted cylinder 3" and the grips (Tylers and Grasshorns).... A 7 shot? Wow sounds like an ace in the hole. Cylinder lengthwise,, compared to the Mod 27? If you want to go heavier in the bullets, do you have to go with a 38 SPL case?

Thanks! I typically only load 158 grain bullets so the length has never been an issue for me.

Commendable. It's a crime to leave good stocks in a box. Still, I understand completely. I once bought a .30 Carbine for a mag I had laying around...:
