Bigbore5shot Congratulations! You are in for a Treat... The mid-frame Bisleys are some of The Best made from Ruger, IMO. Mine are very accurate and pure pleasure to shoot Especially, in the special 44 Spl. The 44spl is just a Great caliber. It can do most anything one needs a handgun for and does it with good manners. Keep us posted once you receive it and, take her out for a dance BigBore44

Bigbore5Shot; I don't have the Bisley version, but I do have two Ruger .44 Special Flattops. As others have said, mine have proper cylinder throat dimensions and shoot extremely well (under 1" at 25 yards off a rest). The only negative is both needed a trigger job (like every other Ruger I have ever owned). Fortunately, after that was done it has been clear sailing.
I have been a fan of the .44 Special revolver for more years than most of you are old. I've been casting my own bullets and reloading for them for about fifty years. The .44 Special is a great all around cartridge in the right platform. The Ruger Flattop is certainly one of those platforms.
One of my favorite "Walking Around" loads is the Skeeter Load (250 gr. Keith ahead of 7.5 grs. Of Unique). It gives about 950 fps. And does most of what you need a revolver to do.
I believe you'll be very happy with YOUR flattop, too.

I'm waiting for mine to return from Ruger. It had some finish issues and roughness that I wanted corrected. Hopefully it will return sometime next week all slick n shiny like it should have been when I bought it. Hope yours is good to go right out of the box.

Stainless steel Flattop Bisley .44 special 5.5" barrel. In all honesty, I'd probably be happier if it was the blued version. All of them I've seen have been fit and finished very nicely. I've had to send back 2 out of the last 3 stainless Ruger single actions I've bought(within the last year) for poor polishing of the stainless finish. Their QC is iffy it seems as of late on the stainless guns. Blued Ruger's I've looked at lately were quite a bit better finished in general.

I'm pretty sure Skeeter still has a 44 special under his pillow!

Nice gun BB, you'll have to put some pics up when you get it, I'd like to add a Bisley to my Ruger stable but not many around my neck of the woods. We had a gun show here yesterday and only on Bisley in the building and it was a 22, and I'm looking for something a little bigger.

Just got my 4 5/8th" Bisley. Lot of tooling marks on the cylinder window. Seems to shoot decent with jacketed bullets, have to load up some cast now to try.
