Thanks for that. I would prefer to buy local. If it takes too long to find one, I might reconsider.
I have never used Davidsons though.

Ohh, Otony is an enabler. I know a few people like that which is why I have less money than I should.
I got the moon clip tools in today so I should be heading to the range this week to try them out .

It's funny, I started looking for a blued GP100 to have converted and it seems they have dried up recently. But that's 1/2 the fun, the hunt. We have one here in the shop, NIB, from Davidsons. $599 if you are interested. We ship USPS, so real reasonable on the shipping charges. We can ship it directly to Clements if you like. After all this time, and I didn't know you had or worked in a shop! Nice to know!

After all this time, and I didn't know you had or worked in a shop! Nice to know! I've been working in a friend's gun/pawn shop for the last 4 and a 1/2 years. I keep pretty much to the gun side of the shop, unless he is out, then I put on my pawn shop hat too. It is just me and him in the shop, and he is really not a "gun guy".. We are pretty much the largest gun shop in town, big selection, reasonable prices. Since I've come to work here, sales have risen dramatically. In the first 13 years he was in business he had done about 6600 sales and transfers. In the short time I've been working we are now up to a total of 14,800+ sales and transfers, so I guess my salesman-foo is strong! I enjoy the job, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that a significant portion of my customers have no clue about safe gun handling. I can understand a person being uneducated about ballistics, gun models, finishes, etc. But the number of folks who come in who are completely incapable of keeping the muzzle aimed in a safe direction is disheartening. I had one old fellow who kept a revolver pointed at me no matter what I said or where I moved. It wasn't malicious intent on his part, he simply could not comprehend that sweeping me was an issue "because it's empty!". It is honestly bad enough that I'm leaving the shop in a few months to manage a dry-cleaners shop. I will still be involved with the Friends of NRA, and teaching handgun familiarity classes, but my days of rapid safe handling deployment lessons are just about over. Otony

Really liking the idea of these conversions... I have a stainless 4" that was my 1st revolver... inherited a vintage blued S&W 4" so I have two pretty close to the same gun ( except the S&W is treated like a princess, & the stainless Ruger "boldly goes where no gun has gone before"... I could easily give it up in 357 & go 10 mm
what was the ball park price to convert & an action job??? sorry if I missed it in the thread somewhere

He breaks the price down by the finish on the gun and what you want done. www.clementscustomguns.com/gp100.htmlMine was $910 done and shipped back to me. $150 deposit up front with the gun shipped to him. The action job was $200 of that and the cost of the conversion was the rest of the amount ($650). Shipping was $60.

As of now I am slacking. I have yet to run any 10mm through the gun. Just haven't been to the range in a while. Life's priorities have taken charge and it isn't at the top of the list.

Any reason this couldn't be done on a 686?
