Not being a machinist type, why does the tolerance need to be on the minus side? Usually -.0002" Thanks, that tells me how much but not "why" they should be minus.

Sorry. It stands to reason that a perfect .452" pin wouldn't fit into a .452" hole. There has to be some clearance.
So a .452" pin measures .4518" to provide .0001" on the complete circumference.
Hope this helps.

Thus, a .452" bullet is perfect for a .4518" throat.
Thank you Huey.

I have that exact set from Amazon and they have been excellent. I verified a number of them as Encore did and found them to be sound.

I ended up ordering that set and just got them today. Look fine to me. I had just cleaned my Single Seven and gaged my cylinder throats after lubing them up good. A .313 gage slid through all the throats. I could get .314 to start in all the throats and it did slide through tightly in 3 holes. I would say my throats on the Single Seven are good to go. I also dropped a gage @ .302" down the bore that dropped all the way through and I was happy to see that it needed a little nudging to get past the muzzle but then fell easily through the forcing cone end. And when reversed to bring it back out it again slid through the fc but needed a little help to get it out of the muzzle. So apparently my muzzle is an infinitesimal bit smaller than the FC which in my limited understanding should be a good thing for accuracy. I also used a feeler gage to gage my BC gap at .005"
The only problem is that after shooting this revolver on its maiden voyage, the cylinder would rotate with the hammer but I couldn't get it to spin with the loading gate open. I thought it just needed a cleaning but now that it's clean it is the same way. Headed to my gunsmiths house tomorrow for another matter and will have him look at it. Hopefully it won't need to go back to Ruger.
