I love it. I've been doing this in my living room with my 3" Sp 101 three days a week with the dogs big rope toy for about the past three weeks in preparation for the real deal. No live ammo has been harmed in the making of my aerial practice. I hope it pays off. I will watch Mr. Bradshaw's video over and over trying to pick up the motion.

Huge thanks to Sean for doing the work to post the aerial shooting series. The slo-mo lets me see detail which a crow or hummingbird or wood duck takes in stride. And my thanks to Cherie Lowry for taking videos with her iPad, and for her timing to catch stills, as well as these video sequences.
Paul.... keep at your aerial dry fire, it will pay off when you go LIVE. Cyberscout.... by all means.
The EYE CONTINUES ON TARGET while the MIND FIRES THE SHOT only when the background is safe. Some guns point better than others, a truth which makes its case when the sights can’t find your eye in time. The two guns in this series point well, the diminutive but fierce S&W M-640 stainless Centennial .357 Mag, and the Ruger 03 .45 Colt. Stout ammunition amplifies hydraulic shock. In the case of the Ruger 03 loaded with Sierra 240 JHC seated over 27 grains/H110 (Federal 155 primer, Speer .45 Colt case), the bullet @ 1,300 fps freezes the 30-degree descent of the water jug long enough to push it 4-feet horizontal before dropping to the ground.
This Ruger 03 sequence shows muzzle blast in one frame----without reaction from the jug. The jug erupts in the next frame. Where in the frame with the muzzle blast is the bullet? Has the bullet entered the jug without registering? I crudely counted the iPad video @ 24 frames-per-second. I don’t recall seeing muzzle blast and target eruption in separate frames. A video of the S&W M-29 4-inch .44 Mag showed the same split between muzzle blast and target eruption. (.44 Mag: Nosler 200 JHP seated over 17/Alliant Blue Dot.) David Bradshaw
