I bought a revolver from a much older gentleman and while chatting and playing show and tell he brought out an old PPC gun made by a gunsmith in NJ in the 70's. He couldn't remember the Smiths name but said the Smith frequented his Police range in NJ or Penn,I can't remember which (the stories were detailed but came out very slowly lol)
it was a S&W 357 with a thick 6 inch or so Bull Barrel and the full rib sight. He had said some years ago a man at a range had offered him like $2000 and every time the gentleman declined the shooter offered $500 more. The last offer he declined was north of $3500. I know nothing of these guns and gentelman didn't seem like a braggart.
No Gunsmith markings I could notice, nice looking piece With an amazing DA trigger. After looking a bit online it seems like these are never really high dollar. I'm curious if there were builders that command these prices or if the man at the range just really really wanted that gun?

Could be. Location and timing is right. Would that builder command the high prices?

Not from me, but people want what they want, and he was a pioneer, so ....

zac0419.... my guess, also, Austin Behlert. Behlert tries to resurrect a Dan Wesson M-15 for me at a Bianchi Cup. Double action plumb worn out. He had no DWA M-15 triggers & hammers on him. He tried to smooth the double action which had warn through the hard plating on the powdered metal parts. Smoothed it as best he could and packed it with grease, but soft is soft and the DA felt like grinding sand. Wasn’t me fighting the trigger; the trigger was fighting me. David Bradshaw
