I found out a few weeks ago my Favorite grip maker does not make Grips for Double Actions. Yes I'm talking about Zane. My loss, and he will be ask first next time I want a set made for a single action.

But I'll venture to say that if he wanted to he could and what beautiful stocks they would be.

I contacted Herrett's several years ago about doing a set of rosewood Ropers for my .480 Super Redhawk. The cost was considerable, as they needed the gun to glasbed the grips to and it was going to be about $400 total with shipping. I got on their waiting list and it was supposed to be less than a year. Two or three years later they called and by that time I had completely forgotten about it and was eyeballs deep into buying a new house and getting married. I talked to Rob about doing a set a few weeks ago and he told me about the one he'd agree to do for someone else. If we'll still be on speaking terms afterwards (my ivory micarta almost got me on Culina's sh*t list ) I'll get him to do a set for me. Bummer is that now I have four of those damned grip stud Rugers that need grips. They'd probably be okay on an SP but the grooveless wood Hogue's I put on the .480 gave me a flinch three years ago. They look okay but I hate everything else about them. The Tamer is a little better but I've found none as comfortable as the old insert grips. Something a mite thicker would be better.

Funny stuff there Craig. Good lookin guns though. Sounds like Rob has his hands full with the custom Redhawk he's working on or going to work on. I'd likely end up spending more money on grips than the gun is worth. But that ain't ever stopped me before! If I like a gun I'll put lots of money in it. Fermin and others will tell me to spend that money on ammo and they'd be right but I say why can't I do both. This little Ruger is a damn good shooter. I don't know if I got lucky or they're all that way but I can hit about anything I look at within 20 yards or so. I like lovin on guns that I can shoot whether it's a $400.00 Ruger or a $4,000.00 Cabot. And since this little .38 is proving accurate for me it will be my training tool to get me to the big bores.
