Hey Guys! I wanted to share with everyone a Very Interesting Find! This Gun Is In A Collection of a friend of mine...He has one of the most incredible Single Action Colt Collections I have ever seen. He was very good friends with Bob and Becky Munden; and most of his guns have had the actions gone through by Bob Munden along with the paperwork and receipts to go with them. The gun that caught my attention; and has continued to; is this Eldorado Arms Custom 45LC. This Gun has the most unbelievable action I have ever felt! It be cocked with very little effort and has about a 1.5 lb pull on the Trigger. Its the sweetest thing I have ever seen! With that being said.....I cant find ANY Comparitive sales on any Eldorado's like this Period. I have found a few Rugers that are competition Guns and they wont shoot live Ammo.... I would really like to somehow determine the value of this gun. Also!!! The only gun I have seen that is comparable was a Bob Munden Ruger that Sold on Gunbroker for $1995.00 about six months ago. The hammer and Finish was very much like this Eldorado...You guys take a look at this one and please share with me any thoughts or opinions you may have! My direct Email is andyaltman@live.com Kindest Thanks! Hard to say. Bob's work was good, but no better thanseveral other pistolsmiths who specialized in Fast Draw guns, and his prices were high. It appears he made the grips, modified the hammer for fanning, and deepened the locking nothes and recut the leads in the cylinder. All standard mods for a FD gun. I would say the work adds $200 -300 dollars to the value of the unmodified gun. Been shooting competition FD for 50 plus years and never saw anyone use one of these.

There weren't many El Dorado Rebels made. To me, the work decreases its value as a collectible, but others may feel differently.

Only if it is worth that to you. El Dorado Arms guns don't command as much as their scarcity and quality should dictate, as there aren't that many people who are advanced enough collectors of them to drive the market higher. If you like the gun at that price, by all means buy it. But, if you ever decide to sell it, you can expect to have a job ahead of you trying to find the right guy to pay what you have in it. I know from experience.

Might consider a Freedom Arms.

Mighty interesting! Never seen one modified for fast draw work. I have to agree with Cubrock though, even though he charged a pretty penny for his race guns, it probably decreased the value of this particular gun. Munden's single action work is the topic of much debate. Most notably, because he would lighten the bolt by cutting a big notch in it.

gulfstreamfive, The only thing I can tell you about that gun is if Bob Munden did it it's a great action. I knew Bob & Becky & have one done by Bob. He lived about an hour drive from our house so I could leave a gun & when it was done Bob would call & I'd drive up to get it didn't have to trust the mail. Bob & Becky were first class people nice as could be. I miss him.

I've seen one in person around here. Plus this one. Not sure if Lee has one or not, but it is one of the rarer models.

I thought so,,,, but wasn't sure. My faded memory wasn't thinking & since I handled so many "back when" it all runs together. I thought I recalled seeing a Rebel & thinking a buddy of mine who is a die-hard Dixie man was always wanting one.

In talking with Russell Wood years ago, he said they produced less than 40 Rebels in Chimney Rock. As for its value??? My four Rebels were purchased over a 12 year span. The lowest set me back $450, the highest $1,100. I've seen maybe another 2 or 3 sell since. $1,000 - $1,300 seems to be the going rate for excellent or better. I can't speak to what Munden's work adds to those figures. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"
