I am planning on leaping into a new Henry .327 when they hit the shelves but am having a little indecision. The brass framed octagon barreled one is a dandy , but seems a little heavy for the caliber so looking at the steel models. Knowing that many here have done a lot of research and adventures in maximum reloading I'd like some thoughts on barrel length. Henry is offering a 16.5" and a 20". Assuming a full charge of slow burning powder would you predict a velocity advantage to the 20" or will 16.5 extract as much as possible from the small case capacity.

Can't help you too much with velocity But, if'n I jump in it'll be with the 16" levergun It'll still be fast enough for my uses and, I Love shorty levers! BigBore44

I'm thinking mine will be a 16" steel carbine.

I was told yesterday that mine should be in in the next week or so. So, they are starting to become available.

I don't know what mine will cost yet, but I did see a Big Boy Steel in 41 mag for $759 at another dealer.

Looking at what the gun does from a 16 inch barrel it is no slouch.

I have a 22" custom TC Carbine in 327 Federal. It produces 2100 fps with American Eagle 100 grn ammo.
I have an order placed for a 20" Henry Steel. Already have a scope and mount waiting on it.
