Thanks....you enablers you!! It's a darn good thing it's winter....I am up to 6 books purchased and added to my already expansive library thanks to you guys. Only halfway through the first one now but winter is just getting started, the fire is warm and the gin and tonics are on ice!!!! The new additions are: The Longwalkers Hunting Grizzlys, Black Bear and Lions "Big-Time" on the Old Ranches Bayed or Treed When The Dogs Bark 'Treed' The Ben Lilly Legend Are you sensing a pattern here? yes I am a hound guy... And finally......... Gun Digest Book of Hunting Revolvers Yes I am also a revolver guy. huh...who'd a figured considering this is a revolver forum. Couple pics of the newest up and coming additions. These aren't your standard 13-15" beagles. They will be a bigger beagle for running snowshoe hare up in the Adirondacks. More of a hound, the mom is 17" tall and the dad is 19" so I am hoping these two little girls will have some height to them!!! But for now, they fit in my son's game bag when they got tired when we were out hunting with the older dogs. Oh, and my son hunts cottontails with a .410 lever action shotgun.....and he loves Single Action revolvers

Can't look at that first pic without smiling ! The ADK is a beautiful area. Did a couple of winter trips on snowshoes in Keene Valley to Marcy and Giant Mtn across from the valley sorta. Always a party in Lake Placid before going home. My climbing team got drunk with the Austrian 4-man Bob Sled team one night there. They thought we were another Bob Sled team ! They thought we were crazy for spending whole days and nights out, one look at the sled and luge and ski jump hills and we thought they were crazy too.

Whitworth, i searched high and low for the Call of the Hounds book. Finally found it in Sweden I believe. Bought it and it is one of my favorite books. Another goon one is Slash Ranch Hounds. Also Bobcat Dog by Dave Petzal.
Also, I bet the bobsled team were hard partiers. Not sure i could hang with them!! ADK'S are kind of dead to abundant wildlife but still awesome to go up there for snowshoe hare or bobcat. Even running bear during the bear running season

Up at the last of the timber, all we saw were snowshoe hares and winter birds. Chickadees and nuthatches and juncos. Cold country in Jan/Feb.. A guy and his son died somewhere along our route, we never saw them. Saw story in paper after we got home. Mothers and girls friends were not happy. We were all single then and life was..no comment.

I have a signed copy of that book. I also graduated from his Packer and Guide School back in 1974! What a great guy and a great experience. The books are still available, just google it.

They belong to a couple of friends who have bestowed upon me the privilege of joining them on the hunt whenever I can make it down.

BB44, we hit a little honey hole with lots of SS rabbits yesterday. The older dogs didn't do too well on them so we headed back to home to try to hit some cottontails. One good run, then they were off on a deer. A little electric stimulation and the one dog came back. The others collar didn't seem to be delivering the much needed stimulation so we had to hoof it a mile to grab the dog. That ended our day. I got the two older dogs a year ago and can see why they were so cheap...they stink. But that's why I got these pups, so I can bring them up the way I want.
Whitworth....even better, all the benefits of hunting with hounds without the time and expenses of owning them!!
