Yep, that's exactly the load I used yesterday: 300 gr stubby from Montana Bullet Works over 10.4 gr of Unique. It flew 1044 fps and printed about 3" high at 10y. I took it a little over a full turn down and it is zeroed and very accurate at 10 y It is EXTREMELY soft shooting - could shoot this all day.

What are you going to be killing with that 300 gr. bullet at 1050 fps at 10 yds? At that distance Tank usually just walks down & slaps them over dead although I've never seen him move at 1050 fps unless we dangled a Huckleberry shake out in front of him. Very nice looking Vaquero!

Back when I was shooting jacketed in my 45 colt, 10gr with Horn XTP 300gr gave me 995fps and it was an easy shooting load and accurate. Took a nice sized piggy with it as well. Glad you found a load that you like, I wish we had lots of jacks to shoot here like we used to have 30 years ago, now it's just mostly cottontails, with an occasional jack here or there.

Groo here Unless yoy "need" the horsepower, slow down the bullet. Ps, you could replace the front sight.
