I tend to plink with a 38 special instead of a 22 these days so I started looking at caliber conversions for my Single Six. The 5 shot 38 Supers look pretty nifty and Clements has a note on his website about a new 6 shot 38 special option which seems like the perfect solution. I've also dabbled with the idea of picking up an Old Model Flattop, or selling my 22 and starting with a centerfire New Model. What are your favorites?

I have them in 17 HMR, 22 LR, 22 Mag, 32 Mag, 327 Federal and 38 Super.
Clearly they are five, six, and seven shooters.
My next two are 25-20 and 218 Bee.
I really don't know which would be my favorite. The 25-20 is my all time favorite cartridge, so maybe...
In an old model I've wondered about a 256 Win Mag too.

I have a Harton 9mm (pictured)and a 38 special in line at his shop. They both started as centerfire Single Six Vaqueros. The 38 special will CCH and Bisley hammer.

Every time I contemplate more than the .32 in a single six, the conversion price always brings me back around to my FA 97's in .44 and .45.
FA in .45 Schofield is 37.8 oz, Single Six fixed sight .32 mag is 35.6 oz. They are effectively the same size. My 357 mag 5 shot single six was heavier, but I can't find the numbers right now.

I've never handled a 97 so that might be in order before I start thinking about a Single Six.

Single Six conversions would not be as popular if FA made blue guns.

I have handled David Clements' 5-1/2" barrel .38 Special 5 shot conversion on the Single Seven, and really like it, as an exercise in "Cool". The loads he told me he tested in it almost made my hair stand on end, but I view that as similar to testing with proof loads, and would use much milder ones, myself, for every day shooting.
"Cool" is one thing, but one does have to weigh practicality and cost vs the glamour of such things. I admit I have not always done that, though.

Single Six conversions would not be as popular if FA made blue guns. I completely agree, my Ideal S6 would be scalloped to look a lot like this 97 but I want it blued/CCH with a shorter barrel:

I'd gladly wait 16-18 months for a blue FA 97 in 41

I realize this might not be a popular option... BUT, what about the Uberti Stallion?

I realize this might not be a popular option... BUT, what about the Uberti Stallion? Absolutely wonderful guns. Have them in every caliber they make.

I have one in 38 special that was worked over by Longhunters in Amarillo. It is a very nice gun.

I realize this might not be a popular option... BUT, what about the Uberti Stallion? I guess this is a popular idea, I had considered buying a Birdshead model to go with my full sized version. They seem quite nice.
