Last night I was checking something for my Cimarron Model P .44 Special. In clearing the revolver, something didn't seem right. I cocked the hammer and everything locked up tight. But when I eased the hammer down, lock up not so good. With the hammer down, the cylinder could be rotated backwards nearly half the diameter of the chamber. I removed the cylinder and cycled the action and the bolt snapped up as it should. But when I pressed down on the bolt, there was scant resistance. Turning the cylinder backwards let the notch leads cam the bolt downward. This is not to be so.
I went out to my shop and got into the innards of the gun. My Uberti, by the way, takes the same screwdrivers as the Colt. Removing the bolt/trigger spring I saw it had lost tension. No cracks nor broken parts, just weak.
Fortunately I found a replacement spring in my parts box and replaced that and reassembled the gun. Twenty minute's work and back in business.

I've had excellent service and accuracy from my Uberti built guns. Glad you're back in business.

That's great shows we should maybe keep a few spare parts around for things like this?

That's great shows we should maybe keep a few spare parts around for things like this? Doesn't everybody? I keep, for Colts: mainsprings, frame screws, ejector rod housing screws, ejector rods w/ heads, bolt and trigger spring screws. For Ubertis: frame screws, bolt/trigger springs, backstraps and trigger guards. For Rugers: Hammer, triggers, trigger return springs, cylinder latches (bolts) frame screws, ejector housing screws, ejector housings (steel) crescent ejector rods, grip frames for three screw and New Models. (Never can tell when I might run up on a converted three screw model at a good price) Also Super Blackhawk grip frames and standard carbon steel hammers. And for Rugers, I keep a couple of spare whole revolvers on hand. Also a few transfer bars. I even have a few spare parts for my Hy Hunter Single Action. And a good thing to know is that many parts will interchange among the various Single Actions. Here is a Hy Hunter, as bought: Digging into my spare parts, I found a brass trigger guard for a Uberti, and a brass basckstrap from a Hawes: Grip;s from a littl scrap walnut. Bob Wright
