There's a great article by Brian Pearce in Handloader No. 294 February 2015 on the Single Seven & load data for it, you'll definitely want to check it out...He used CCI 500 primers for all his test loads and stated that powder charges for the cartridge were small enough that magnum primers were unnecessary. I've loaded several hundred rounds of 327 with a variety of powders over the last year or so & have never used anything but standard primers with excellent results.

Contact Wolfe publishing, they sell back issues of Handloader...No doubt they'll have that one.

I have used all sorts of primers in my S7, and have had zero lick with accuracy no matter what combination of components. Swapped back over to 32 H&R brass, and get awesome performance from these loads in the same S7. I cannot figure out why i cannot get accuracy with 327 loads. bullseye, any ideas?

Push480 Exactly what loads are you trying in each 327 & 32 H&R??? Not trying to drift it Craig, just figured we might learn something here, good or bad. BigBore44

push480, if your getting good accuracy with 32 H&R brass but poor accuracy with similar loads in 327 brass, the first thing I would do is examine the forward section of the chamber near the leade. Is it rough? Tight? Do the 327 rounds require a hard push to seat in the chamber? The chambers on my 7-1/2" S7 were rough as a cob when I first got it & extraction with hot loads was quite difficult, I gave them all a thorough polishing with a Scotch-Brite pad wrapped around a mandrel in my drill press and the problem disappeared.

100 grain cast, plain base keith style bullets, 100 grain xtp, and a 90 grain cast that I have coated with hytek. Same 90 grain bullet not coated but conventional lubed. Throats are very uniform, no issues inserting loaded cartidges, leades look great. Plain and simple fact is i cannot get any combo of primer, powder, bullet to shoot well from 327 brass. Just a mystery to me.

Push 480 Howz about starting up another thread, I bet you'll get some good ideas and more direct coverage and I won't be muddying this thread more I'm curious what the problem may be (like you) and I bet you can get it narrowed down...
