Bed that gap! That's where they like to crack. Clements fills that void with something like Devcon.

Great gift! I just ordered a 1895 GBL and should have it later next week. So far, what is your impression of the new "Remlins"? The stock's fit leaves a little to be desired. The action is incredibly smooth. I was honestly surprised by that. The trigger has a crisp release but is WAY too heavy! Still, with good control, no biggie. The accuracy so far has been pretty good at 25 yards or less. I haven't put targets up any farther to test them yet. However, my range has steel at 200 yards. A few test shots to get the idea of where to hold the sight and I could ping the steel! I have handloaded nearly all my 45-70 ammo. The Remington 405 JSP is a favorite and works even with max loads, on hogs anyway. I bought an 1895 that came with several boxes of the Hornady Gummy tip ammo, I used ONE on a big Kansas buck. Killed the deer, but the bullet broke up on the shoulder and stopped in the offside rib cage. I got rid of the rest of that ammo and swore it off. I have also used the Federal 300 JHP load on hogs with excellent results. I chose that load to keep the noise down, my grandson was in the stand with me. Of course my grandson took credit for it, he said "shoot the red one grandpa".

Groo here I have a few of that type.[357 , 41. 44.4570] The key seems to be , how the mag tube is hung. The dovetail does not bind like some barrel bands do.
