Magnum Research already makes the long frame for both .45-70 and .450 Marlin already, so the .458 bore is a reality already. Over on Avi's YouTube channel he has a BFR in .458 Win Mag. The performance is hampered a bit by a shorter barrel in terms of velocity. But penetration is similar. Would simply boring out the Cylinder be the only requirement?

You could't use a 450 Marlin cylinder because it has a longer belt than the 458 Win. Mag. You would probably have a problem with OAL because the 458 Win case is about .4" longer. Ron

Damn. Of course it had to be more complicated. Sounds like it would require a custom cylinder and a machined frame to make room.

I inquired about this from the magnum research custom shop a few years ago when I was looking at possible conversions. I don't think they said they would, but they they also didn't say no. I'm not sure there would be much to gain beyond with a .458 vs a 45-90 in a BFR if you are loading your own. I was interested at the time for factory load availability. I would think Jack Huntington could make one if he's willing to. He did excellent work on my BFR.
