So my NM BH that I have had for years, had to go back to Ruger for barrel replacement, the ERH nipple came off and went / So I call Ruger to order one and solder back on, they no longer have them, very nice CSR tells me to send it in and they'll replace the barrel, I tell her it's not stock big surprise, she tells me to put the original parts back in, I told her my barrel is shortened & re-crowned, she says the serial # doesn't come up so they wont know, you can choose 6.5 or 4 5/8, ok pay $30 for fedex label off it goes, I get a call today from a snippy little shit, that I have modified Ruger parts and the charge is $195 to replace the barrel, WTF free to $195 I told her to send it back, then I thought about it all the money I've spent with Ruger all the one's I own. I called and requested a supervisor, so one calls me back, I explain things to her and state your losing all my future business for $195. She puts me on hold, comes back, ok will will fix no charge but have to replace your light trigger pull back to factory, or you mean lawyer proof factory 8lbs specks? So they will do it I was ready to never buy another Ruger again. For a multi million dollar company that's been in business for decades who lately can't put a front sight on straight, to give me shit over a 20 yr old barrel IMO is ridiculous. Will see if this one shows up straight or shoots 2 feet to the left & a foot down

I had Bob Munden do an action job and recut the chambers on a Ruger Bisley a year or so before he died. He had slipped while cutting one of the chambers distorting it. He sent it back to Ruger to get a new cylinder asking them not to "fix" the action work he had done. Well, that didn't happen and he had to do it all over again.

This is exactly why I can't send my modified smith back to the factory. They'll gut it and I'll be out a whole hunka-buncha gunsmithing fees! (the extractor star lost one point!)

Exactly gents, I know they will gut them but I told them ahead of time what to expect , they told me to send it in like that, and there "like oh well who cares attitude" even after I said I have spent thousands on your guns & accessories sitting in my gun safe as we speak, since I was 15. I honesty expected more from them, they know people customize the shit out of there guns, their tolerances are sloppy any respectable shooter, hunter, etc is going to improve the gun it's a given, the cowboy action shooters that advertise for them never shoot stock Rugers, bet they don't bust their chops.

You're pissed because they didn't want to fix a 20yr old gun for free? Or that they did what we ALL know they do due to liability, replace any aftermarket parts or modifications? Mmmkay......

I believe he feels mislead into thinking they would fix the barrel(which they agreed to) with the implication that they would not disturb the rest of the gun. Which the owner of that property reported to be in working order.
I'd probably send it without the action... (in my case above, the damaged part is integral to the action mechanism.)

What in God's name did you expect? ? Yup. Yup +1. Ruger is well known for repairing guns by returning them to factory condition.

I am sure that the vast majority of people that ruger customer service has to deal with don't know their you-know-whats from a hole in the ground.

Item #1: Profanity Profanity has its place. SINGLEACTIONS is not that place.
Item #2 Factory Service Custom work generally voids the manufacturer's warranty. There are practical reasons why a manufacturer does not want to tackle or be responsible for a gun worked on outside the factory. How was the gun modified? Was a torch used? Have dimensions been altered?
As to trigger work on Rugers, to protect my hammer & trigger work, those parts stay with me when the gun is shipped. To illustrate what can happen, for shooting prototype .357 Maximums, I gave them trigger jobs. After a test session in New Hampshire the guns took a trip to Connecticut for inspection, to change a cylinder, etc. The revolvers came back to New Hampshire with new lockwork. There followed more trigger jobs. Next time the Maximums went to Southport, the guts stayed behind. As I write, the hammer & trigger from an SRM prototype resides in the first Champion S410N 10-1/2" Super Blackhawk----photos of said revolver and parts appear the gallery section (thinking Vol. XXXIV (34). Maybe ya didn't read my post, They were no after market parts I made the gun factory again, but I told them AHEAD of time I modified the barrel. They said to send it in because they no longer make ERH nipple or what ever ya call it that are soldered to the barrel and said they would replace the barrel I didn't ask them to I only asked for the parts to fix it, that's when they offered due to no longer having them and I don't know anyone who sells them, I don't know about you but I like ERH's on my single actions.

What did I expect I guess to much for people to read my post before commenting on thing s that have no bearing. I replaced all factory parts before sending it in, I told them before I agreed to send it in the barrel had an 11 degree target crown and a drilled & tap front sight base like there single six, who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!They are trashing that barrel and installing a new one with an ERH screw that screws directly into the barrel!!!!!!!!!!!!! Point is they knew this before I sent it because they told me they would fix it for free anyways. They when they get it, they change their story, I called BS and they agreed to fix it. It's their screw up not mine. If they would have had an issue with the barrel I would not have sent it in, they said no issue send it, then changed their story, I called them on it. Simple, SO how do I not know my ass from a hole in the ground??
