What is shown in the first picture?
I'm assuming a form of lead, but what was the source?
Thanks.

Those are as good as gold bars, I like the smelter too.

Good job. That's a lot of ingot molds!

looks like pure lead pipe to me... I wish I had more pure lead... I helped my FIL melt down literally a ton of lead into ingots, before he died... of course they are mine now, & fill many many coffee cans... but most of the lead was reclaimed bullets & wheel weights... thinking I might want something a little softer for that big hollow point 257 mold I just got...

What was lead pipe used for?
Certainly not drinking water?

oh yes... for a long time... the city next to the town I work in was still pulling lead pipe out of the municipal system last year... MRS cousin works for them... I've not talked to him this year about work, so I don't know if they are lead pipe free yet or not...

Wow!
I was under the impression that lead pipe was known as not being suitable for drinking water long ago.

I would not be surprised if many cities had lead piping still in use.

What is shown in the first picture? I'm assuming a form of lead, but what was the source? Thanks. I started with old (water) lead pipe.

I would not be surprised if many cities had lead piping still in use. No doubt. I'm sure there's plenty of it still in use around... Besides, what the public don't know won't hurt'em none! Isn't that how "they" always see it these days!?!?! Nice pile O'lead!!!

Many lead pipes left out there, but how many more houses with copper pipes and lead solder? The past wasn't so long ago!
