Mega? Knight? Ouch! My newest complete AR didn't cost what a maga upper and lower sell for.. Knight stuff is bad news too. Us old retired guys can't buy stuff like that..

You get what you want, we know that Everything in that 308 receiver is more expensive. I have resisted the urge for one but have been contemplating a 6 Creedmoor build in one as of late. If I do, it will be on a Mega set and will probably have Stev of Apache chamber a Krieger for that one like he did the 223. It would be an awesome AR for all around use. The 6.5 CM would be an outstanding choice as well

The DPMS pattern 308 AR's have a wider variety and cheaper mags. That being said the Armalite AR10A lower will also accept these mags. The Armalite AR10B lowers do not accept these DPMS pattern mags and will only accept Armalite proprietary mags. I have an Armalite AR10B. I put it together with pieces that I chose. It wasn't cheap. Will I build another one? Nope, they are too expensive and I do not shoot the one I have all that much. If you want the cheaper variety get a DPMS pattern.

JP LRP07, Sub MOA accurate out to transonic velocity range. Very reliable, I have one that has finally been shot out 30k rounds on the barrel. Purchased it in 08, shot many many competitions with it. And have now ordered another barrel.

BBD has it right...the JP LRP07 is one fine big frame AR. I don't own one, but have gotten real twitchy around my buddy's when I get the opportunity to shoot it. Another solid option, the Larue OBR. Because like Glenn said Stan, you get what you want...and I don't see too many run-of-the-mill guns in the Axe vortex...

I have an OBR as well, it is a fine option, however it uses the SR25 operating system which is slightly different than the normal AR 10/DPMS platform. It also is built the way La Rue wants not the way you want, JP gives more build options. I used to shoot for La Rue, I now shoot for JP.

Got any leftover OBR's or JP's that need a home?

I buddy bought the Armalight when it first came out years ago, nice shooting but they advised to ONLY shoot moly coated bullets through it and nothing else I was shocked at that, and told him to get the spray moly kit from midway, get bulk surplus military 168 BT and make his own. factory crap at the time was high. I always build all my AR's from a virgin lower up I never buy anyone's so can't speak to them.

There are a lot more choices than there used to be. I have an Armalite AR10/T. It is very heavy but is a sub 1" @ 200yd shooter. It is one of the most accurate guns I own

If I didn't want to pop the bucks for a JP or a Wilson Combat, I'd go with a Daniel Defense. Nothing but great reviews on it…planning on buying one myself. The Ruger 762 is wicked accurate…I took a class at FTW Ranch with mine, out to 1000 yards, and it was a rock. It's a piston gun, so not a lot of mix and match (mine now has a Geiselle trigger). I have a Colt 901 I've shot in competition (also with a Geiselle trigger), but that big monolithic front end with the quad rail sucks. They make it without the quad now, I think.
My favorite new AR is a Wilson Combat in .338 Federal…like every Wilson I've shot super accurate, great trigger out of the box, reasonable weight and, hey, the .338 Federal is a cool cartridge. I'm trying to get Hornady to load me up some with GMXs….I got the brass, Plan to use it on a trophy whitetail hunt later this year in Texas...

I'll tell you what I would like....I would like to get another upper with a shorter/lighter barrel. It would probably still be heavy but not as much as it is now.
