So, just curious, I S there enough of a difference here to pick one over the other? Currently, I own a .500 JRH BFR and I really like it. Couldn't ask for a better .50 cal. But the Linebaugh is the original .50 caliber hand cannon. So, what differences are there performance wise? I know that the Linebaugh is a .510 but it seems to me to be somewhat of a "6 of one, half-dozen of the other," type deal.

I agree. Both are wonderful big bore rounds. But, for me, its the JRH hands down.
Bullet selection, brass availability and extra cylinder options just provide too many benefits for me to pass up.
Not saying one is better than the other, just stating my preference.

I was shooting and building 500L 20 years ago so I'm too old to change. Unless I made a six shot.......but I could use a heeled bullet.....or offset the barrel.....wait. Is there room in a 480 Ruger.....different sub forum. I know

I guess money talks, I decided to go JRH on my first 500. Based upon commercial bullet selection it was the winner. If I were set up for casting I probably would have chosen the Linebaugh. It doesn't hurt that you can reload the JRH on a 650.

I load 500 Linebaugh on my 550! I didn't know you could do that! Dillon said the rim was too large for a 650, I don't have a 550 so I never thought to ask.

JRH hands down for me. Far greater selection of bullets and if I ever have to make cases, that's much easier too. IMHO, the big draw of the Linebaugh would be to be able to use the big 525gr.

The .500JRH exists along with the .500 S&W because the .510s aren't legal in CA
