So, 9 months into rehab on destroyed right leg...3 weeks since replaced keft knee and went straight into rehab...I'm thinking that while everything hurts like living hell, I will motor through this. I read the little warning that with both knees replaced and not yet working 100%, there might be "minor balance issues." HA! I got the cast on my left wrist today. Minor balance issues my butt! The worst thing was the medical practitioner, whom I've worked with for more than a decade, made one final comment:
"You know those big guns you shoot, Michael? DON'T! At least not until the cast comes off.You can see ghost images of previous minor compression fractures. Wonder how you got those?"
I believe you called that one some years back, Mr. Taffin! LOL!
What the heck....maybe I'll mess around with the .327.

I rarely shoot full power loads even in my big bores. They just aren't needed.
The 22s, 32s, etc are fun and effective.
I learned a long time ago to enjoy and appreciate what I have and can do. Not waste my time on what I'm lacking or can't do.

And I have to add the 41 and the 44 Spl They are a lot of fun and a lot can be done with them too.

I had shoulder surgery recently no rifles for awhile so I've been shooting handguns for awhile more and more. Heavy loads aren't needed really, I grew shooting bigbores and hunted over 25yrs with them I have loads Ill probably never shoot just aren't needed for game I come to learn over the years. 41 & 44 spl are my current favorites to play around with.

I am one week into left TNR. Still lots of pain, but more movement every day. Hope to be back at the range by EOM.

My advice is shoot a 22 and see how you body reacts, recoil of any kind doesn't just effect the shooters hand and arm, its a body wide shock. Get well soon.

Glad you are mending...
...and yep...I had a FA .454 that I could tell was beginning to do permanent damage to my right wrist and elbow. I happened to be emaling with Mr. Taffin and after he described what BIG bore had to him I decided that if it could not be done with a 4T1 I would get a rifle...
Did one more short stint with a .475 Linebaugh but just saw no fun in shooting even .480 velocity loads..
Get well soon...Bob

5 weeks should mean still in a sling! Three shoulder rebuilds and one bicep torn of the forearm and I finally learned that repaired is not the same as restored. Each procedure brings about a new normal. The hard part is recognizing that fact.

I think most of us here wish you a speedy & full recovery. I know several of my friends who've had knees or shoulders worked on. So far, none of them say they are "better than new",,, but rather,,, it's better than it was,,, with less pain. But we have to understand the new limitations such surgeries place upon us. Just get well & keep on sharing the good stuff with us!

Yes I learned real quick on 500Ls that trail boss loads are a lot of fun...( a few at a time) 45,44spec are becoming more used...An I bought my first .32 H&R mag...as we age its better to look at them big boress and shoot smaller stuff...I am rethinking my holdings as the next 10-15 yrs pass ! Lord willing
