Have shot the 30 carbine and have no experience with 327 federal magnum.... if you had a choice of one or the other which would it be and why?

I own and shoot both. Hands down I prefer the 327 Federal.
Its available in a smaller, lighter gun that holds more shots.
It Headspaces on the rim. Much better in a revolver.
Accepts various ammo such as 32 Short, 32 Long & 32 Magnum.
They are ballistic twins. But one is better for a semi auto, the other better for a revolver. Just as they were designed to be.

Just as an aside, the 327 Federal will also shoot 32 ACP as it is semi rimmed.
Get both. The whole point is to have good fun!

+2 head spacing is a pain with the carbine, its a neat little cartridge but still a pain. I have both or three.

I sold my 30 carbine Blackhawk and bought the 327. I enjoy the compact 327 and it's ease of reloading.

30 carbine is also a tapered case, & factory ammo in a handgun is borderline abusive on the noise scale, & proper bullets are harder to come by... IMO, it made a lot of sense, back when surplus 30 carbine ammo was cheap, but if starting over today, I'd be all over the 327...
BTW, I still shoot some 30 carbine in a handgun, but that is in an Automag 3... I used my 30 carb Blackhawk for a project, & ended up with a multi cylinder 45 out of the gun... I've not replaced it with a 327 ( yet ) but then I'm heavily invested into the 25 caliber as a light weight, in my revolvers

No I don't have three! But I've got a buddy down in Texas that has 3 of just about everything, or 4 or 5! I could have used some help this summer with all these varmints!!

30 Carbine? 327? On a Blackhawk? Send that baby to Reeder to become a 300 GNR. "... This one is simply a shortened 30-30 and intended for revolver use. We took the old 30 Herrett and shortened it 1/10 of an inch and made the case a bit straighter and the shoulder a bit sharper. This one will put a 110 gr. JHP out of a 7 inch barrel at 2200. No set back problems with this one either. Can be rechambered from a 30 Carbine Ruger."

Boy,,, I had to hang my head when 2 dogs was giving sixshot a hard time about 3 of the 30 Carbine Blackhawks. I own a few,,, 6 OM's to be exact. Of course,,, I also own a 327 Blackhawk, a Buckeye 32-20 & 32 H&R mag that was re-bored to 327, and a Single-Seven in 327. Add in the (7)32 H&R mags and I have the spectrum covered pretty good. And with 5 different molds,,, I can cast a good spectrum of slugs to whack the critters with.

AND congrats on your fine battery.

jdoc,,, we will not discuss all the others either. I'm fairly heavy in several calibers,,, but always looking to add more.

Here at enablers anonymous we call that a pretty good start. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AXE, when one of those .30carb. guns shows up here it's going straight to Reeder. Besides the velocity increase any shooting impressions to relate. And with the horsepower increase does it need the Bisley grip or did that just happen.

I was thinking of your original question as I would really like to see what the 30 Carbine could do when slinging a sledgehammer bullet or even the Miha 115 GCHP. Sixshot could tell us if we could just get him to put more than 3 grains of powder behind a bullet!!
