Recoil is quite managable as it rolls nicely. And it is accurate. I haven't shot mine a lot.

I found Buffalo Bore's 340 grain loads to be a bit uncomfortable, as were some of Garrett's offerings, but after that every load I put through mine has been pretty pleasant.

It's funny, my SBH 44mag was bought in '81 I think and THE worst recoiling load I un-fondly remember is a box of Federal 180 SP's.. For me, velocity and the violence that comes with, the more painful.

Haven't shot mine much (got one of the early ones, s/n in very low 200s) since it's supposed to be a Christmas present...shoot mostly 44 specials (Keith SWCs with Unique) and I've been pleased.

The knife above is a custom from Conners knives. 1/4 D2 steel, 5.25" blade, 9.5" oal, convex grind, and thick sambar stag scales. Big tough knife for big tough jobs. Another idea for accessories is a small bore understudy. I built a matching single ten to go with the shorty super. I'm sure you could do a .22 or .32 vaquerito up to match. Haven't decided on its companion knife yet, Bowen 440c loveless style on top, Bark River A2 little creek on bottom. Both scaled in sambar.

Sheesh ! There goes Dave tempting us with that amazing gun/knife combo again ! OK, so while I've not used it, this seems like a great place for the 10grs of Unique and Keith SWC or reasonable facsimile.

The gun in my avatar was a full size vaquero birds head gripped, 3.75" barrel 45 colt. I fitted a Bisley grip frame to it, had Alan solder a Ruger sight base to it and I dovetailed a FO front sight to it, I cut a dovetail to the topstrap and mounted a .170 tall XS shotgun rear sight to regulate with the new front sight. It makes a very handy and easy to carry "Sheriff", I shoot 280gr LFNs at 1160fps and have no issue with accuracy out to 75 yards. It is my favorite working SA.
